THE HALL PARRISH SCHOLARSHIP
On March 13, 1999 The Hall Parrish Scholarship Fund was created and funded by Allen Broach and Bob Weston in honor of Mr. Parrish's Fiftieth birthday.

"Your power to influence is remarkable. Whether it's directing others and pulling the best from them, or your own performances and readings, you always make people laugh and cry and think. This community owes you greatly for all that you have shared with us," said Broach.

Tax deductible donations from Broach Theatre patrons have enhanced this fund and we are able to award $1,000.00 scholarships to area college and university theatre students yearly. Auditions are held in January. The students prepare two contrasting monologues and a committee of professional actors and Broach board members select the winner.

Hall Parrish wants this money to be used by the student in any way that they choose. "When living in New York City, I found the need for cash was not always for school. Sometimes new photos or resumes were needed. Sometimes money for rent, food, and even subway tokens was running short. A young actor's life is almost always financially challenging".

Past HALL PARRISH SCHOLARSHIP winners include Tawney Swetnam, a theatre major from Greensboro College, and Billicia Hines, a theatre major from North Carolina A&T State University.
